Two Tips For Sprucing Up Your Front Porch

Your front porch is the first chance a visitor gets to see a little about how you care for your home and your style. This is why it is so important to make sure that you are doing what you can in order to spruce it up a little bit. To help you do just that, you might want to take a few moments to review the following suggestions.

Give Your Porch Light New Life

If you have had the same porch light for many years, you might feel that it has seen better days. You might at least be getting bored with it. Instead of spending a lot of money to completely replace it, you could simply give your existing light new light. First, tape off all glass sections of the porch light. Then, tape garbage bags to the exterior of your home, all around the base of the porch light. This is to protect your siding from becoming damaged in any way. Wipe down the metal pieces of the porch light with a damp rag. Allow it to air dry or dry it off with a dry rag. Once it is dry, spray paint all of the metal with a new color of paint. You can use any color you want, such as red, black, or blue. Then again, you can stick with a gold or silver metal colored paint. Just make sure that the spray paint that you are using is approved for painting metal objects in order to ensure that the paint will adhere properly.

Bring In Plant Life

Plants do not just have to be for your flower garden or flower pots around your yard. You might want to think about bringing a lot of plant life right onto your front porch. The more plant life you have on your porch, the more your front entrance will feel inviting to anyone who shows up. All you will need to do is to make sure that you are selecting the best plants for the region that you live in and according to the amount of direct sunlight your porch gets. You may have to bring those plants indoors if you live somewhere where it gets cold at some point during the year. To continue to allow the pleasantness of plants during that time, you can add a few high quality faux plants, since they will not be affected by the weather.

With just those two tips in mind, you should be able to notice a dramatic difference in the look and feel of your front porch.
